ABOUT ME
Ryan Dougery is a 2D/3D character animator pursuing a BFA in Emerging Media: Animation & Visualization. His work centers on storytelling and experimentation, using digital tools, Toon Boom Harmony, and Autodesk Maya, to bring stylized, expressive characters to life. Ryan draws inspiration from a mix of classic cinema and genre film, from the bold framing of German Expressionism to the dynamic energy of Shaolin kung fu movies. That love for visual storytelling started early, shaped by growing up on a steady diet of classic films, animated features, and five-dollar movie Tuesdays. Visionaries like Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, animated classics such as La Planète Sauvage and The Iron Giant, left a lasting impact on him. Now, he's focused on pushing his craft further, with the long-term goal of directing his own animated film. Whether through subtle gestures or high impact actions, Ryan continues to deepen his understanding of how movement conveys meaning as he pursues his goal of directing character-driven films.
